minutes the sheriff's office tells us one of their deputies is in critical condition after being shot early this morning. we just got these pictures from police at the scene.. gunfire erupted just before 12-30 on edmore road in chestertown. this all happened after deputies responded to a domestic dispute. once inside, the suspect armed himself with a shotgun and fired at the deputy who then returned fire. both the deputy and suspect were shot. the deputy was transported to shock trauma in baltimore where he is undergoing surgery right now. we do know the deputy is a 4-year veteran of the queen annes county sheriff's department. we have a crew at the hospital in baltimore. we'll have a live report coming up at 5:45. good morning washington. toss to eileen

military helicopter to break apart mid-air before crashing--killing two crew members in texas. it happened yesterday afternoon in galveston bay just off the shoreline about 25 miles southeast of houston. military officials say the crew was on a routine training mission when their apache helicopter went down. debris and a small oil slick were on the bay and a piece of the choppers blade was found on land near the crash site. the national guard says they have located the men right now officials are trying to recover as much wreckage from the bay as possible. now to the trump transition..
